CTV in 1969 aired for the first time from Toronto Miss Teenage Canada www.missteeagecanada.com  then owned by Cleo Products and sponsored mostly by A&W. It was a pageant for girls from the age of 14 to 17, they wanted to showcase the personality and beauty of the girls. Jewel McAveny was crowned Miss Teenage Canada www.missteeagecanada.com. She would be the first to wear the crown.

In 1972 the name changed to Miss Teen Canada   www.missteeagecanada.com  ,  the winner from here would than go to Miss Teen world which was held in the states. Canada did very well with many of the girls placing in the top 20 spots. Unfortunately due to financial hardships the pageant closed in 1990’s

In 2008 Michelle Weswaldi launched MTC-W inc http://www.missteenagecanada.com/about-mtcw/meet-the-team She made her vision a reality, a premiere teen scholarship and beauty competition for ages of 13 to 19. The slogan “Be your own kind of Beautiful” began to be heard. Named Miss Teen Canada World www.missteeagecanada.com , unfortunately many other smaller pageants adopted the similar name and make it hard to distinguish the pageants. In 2014 MTC-W made a discussion to change the name it is now Miss Teenage Canada http://www.missteenagecansada.com/about-mtcw/company-profile

It was very exciting to see that  Miss Teenage Canada http://missteenagecanada.com/become-mtcw/apply-now helps out Cardiac Kids http://www.cardiackids.ca/   and Free the Children http://www.freethechildren.com/   volunteering as always been a big part of my life and one of the reason I was excited to applied  http://missteenagecanada.com/become-mtcw/apply-now The top delegate to raise the most money is awarded a Me to We Trip  ,  over the pass years Miss Teenage Canada www.missteeagecanada.com has donated over 190,000.00 to Free the children with the help of the delegates. With every year the number of dollars increases and it is very exciting to see how creative the delegates are getting to raise the money. I have been busy with planning a Zumbathon, I also held a steak and drink night.

The experience in pageants have changed my life , I have become healthier by eating and exercising regularly. I found my voice, once quiet and shy I spoke very little, now I know  if I want to be heard I must speak up. Being a victim of bulling I had lost a part of me that may have been gone forever but with the help of pageants I found my confident, my self-esteem  I walk with my head held high. Pageants have empowered me, motivated me, to be my Own Kind of Beautiful. It has opened doors for me in the Charity world where I enjoy volunteering, in the modeling world where I have discover a new passion, and it has shown me Dreams can come true.

Yes only one girl can win the crown, but you soon learn that every girl goes home a winner. You are taught to love yourself, have confidence, and to believe in your dreams. The friendships that you form are for a life time, they will always be your sisters.

Wearing the Crown for Miss Teenage Canada www.missteeagecanada.com I would promote it by  Showing my inner beauty, being a great role model, attending different events for the communities in our great Country and the many Charities.  I would go to schools and talk about my experiences. I would promote my platform Acts of Kindness, because if everyone did one act of kindness a day it would change many lives. To me  the crown is not just a symbol of a winner, it is a reminder that you are a Role model, and someone who can make changes for a better life.
